Marie Sheringham Cuff passed away peacefully at her home in Goleta on Dec. 27, 2024. Marie was born and raised in Howard County, Maryland, where she developed a lifelong passion for horseback riding.
As a young girl, she spent countless hours riding through the woods, a pastime that followed her into adulthood.
Marie owned several beloved horses over the years including Lola, Duet, Seance, Bridget and Sooner. She showcased her talent and dedication to the sport in hunter-jumper shows at Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara.
After moving to the West Coast at 18, Marie settled in Santa Barbara, where she enjoyed sunny days at the beach with her Australian Shepherd Echo.
She purchased Dandy Dogs and married the father of her daughter and late ex-husband Scott Warwick. Marie owned and operated Dandy Dogs for over 35 years. Under her care and leadership, Dandy Dogs flourished into a thriving small business and an integral part of the local community. Her creativity and compassion left an indelible mark on both her clients and their beloved pets.
Marie is survived by her daughter Hannah Warwick; her brothers Peter Miller and Glen Cuff; and her sister Joan Johnson.
Her legacy of kindness, hard-work, old fashioned grit, humor, and love for animals will continue to inspire those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.
