Matt Steinhaus has returned to Santa Barbara to take the Director of Athletics position at Laguna Blanca School.
He replaces Jason Donnelly, who stepped down from the position after six years. Donnelly remains at the school as a physical education teacher and the boys and girls volleyball coach.
Steinhaus received his bachelor of arts degree from UCSB in 1990 after transferring from the University of Kansas.
He previously worked as the athletic director at New Roads, a K-through-12th grade independent school in Santa Monica. He also served as the school’s head baseball coach for 10 years and departed as the program’s winningest coach in the postseason. Additionally, he assisted with the swim teams for the upper and middle schools.
Matt and his wife, Jueun, have two children, Marnie, 5, and Beau, 1.
Jueun works as an Admission Associate at Laguna Blanca’s lower campus in Montecito.
Steinhaus is from the city of Lafayette in the Bay Area.
