San Marcos High School juniors Matteo Burdick and Keanu Nguyen captured the U18 Junior AVP West Coast Championship over the weekend in Manhattan Beach.
Burdick and Nguyen outlasted some of the top teams from the West Coast after qualifying for the tournament earlier in the year.
The duo swept through pool play before battling to a semifinal victory over Cash Essert and Mavrick Essert, 23-21, 19-21, 15-10.
In the title match, Burdick and Nguyen fought their way to a two-set victory over Colton Mortensen and Max Williams of Arizona, 21-17, 21-18.
