Blattberg was honored as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year at Cate.

Blattberg has enjoyed tremendous athletic and academic success at Cate. She is a four-year starter on the volleyball team and is expected to be starting for the fourth year on the basketball team later this year.

In the classroom, she carries 4.3 grade-point average, taking a class load that includes advanced art history, history, English, calculus and biology.

She is a winner of the Dartmouth Book Award, which recognizes and rewards high school students who have excelled both academically and in their extracurricular activities, and encourages these talented students to consider attending Dartmouth.

Her academic interests are international relations and legal studies.

In volleyball, Blattberg has the Rams one win away from winning the title in the tough Tri-Valley League.

Last year, she helped Cate win the Frontier League title and earned all-league first-team honors. She also was named All-CIF after leading the Rams to the Division 7 quarterfinals.

Blattberg is co-captain with Grace Blankenhorn on this year’s squad, which is ranked second in Division 6.

As a sophomore, she earned second-team all-league honors.

In basketball, she was second-team all league as a sophomore and honorable mention and Coach’s Award winner as a junior.

In addition to athletics, she is involved in school life as a prefect in the dorms, a member of the National Charity League, a peer tutor and a tour guide on campus.

Maya thanked her parents, Mary Lynn and Jason Blattberg, Cate Athletic Director Wade Ransom and academic advisor Shannon Drew for helping her achieve success.
