Bishop Diego fall sports found plenty of success across three different leagues this year, and it was awarded with recognition on each of the All-League teams.

From football to tennis, there were standout performers all across campus for the Cardinals.

Football – Marmonte League

Headlining the All-League honorees for Bishop Diego football is Mays Pese, who earned the title of Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year after a dominant season stuffing the run and getting to the quarterback.

Joining Pese on the First Team from the Cardinal defense this season are linebacker Isaiah Kitt and fellow defensive lineman JD Vargas.

On the offensive side of the ball, both running back Oscar Mauia and offensive lineman Tristan Fui earned a spot on the First Team. Fui led Bishop Diego in the trenches while Mauia served as a worthy replacement for the injured Misa Paiau.

As for the honorable mentions, Jaison Lotu, Gabe Villa, Dominic Herrera and Tua Rojas all made the cut as a part of this young Cardinal squad.

With plenty of All-League hardware and a playoff appearance in a season where just one senior suited up, the future is bright for Bishop Diego football.

Girls Volleyball – Tri-Valley League

UCLA-bound Eliana Urzua turned in another elite season for the Cardinals on her way to the title of Tri-Valley League MVP. She was also named to the All-League First Team.

Meanwhile, Sage Thorne-Thomsen’s solid year was awarded with a spot on the All-League Second Team.

Rounding out the honorees for Bishop Diego Volleyball is Avianna Gordon, who was slotted in as an All-League Honorable Mention.

Boys Water Polo – Tri-Valley League

Noah Peterson stuffed the stat sheet all season for the Cardinals, including several double-digit scoring games. As a result, he was Bishop Diego’s lone member of the All-League First Team.

When Peterson wasn’t getting it done offensively, David Acquistapace was likely taking his place this year, earning him Second Team honors.

Lucas Forry and Ben Zoltoski also turned in solid seasons and were named Honorable Mentions.

Girls Golf – Tri-Valley League

Leading the charge for Bishop Diego girls golf this season was head coach Leo Ibarra, and he was awarded the honor of Tri-Valley League Coach of the Year.

On the course, Delaney Ball was the top performer for the Cardinals to pick up a spot on the All-League First Team.

As for the All-League Second Team, the duo of Tessa Johansen and Chelsea Hayes were the lone Cardinals to make the cut.

Cross Country – Tri-Valley League

Bishop Diego had a trio of runners earn All-League Honors, all three earning the title of Honorable Mention.

Joe Simolon, Joshua Lopez and Brennan Todd each ran their way to the honors.

Girls Tennis – Frontier League

Wrapping up the Cardinals’ All-League Teams for the fall season is the girls tennis squad, which competes in the Frontier League.

Elisha McCullough, Marlene Lausen and Haley Hubbs served and volleyed their way to All-League Second Team honors.
