Dos Pueblos’ Mel Mayo was crowned the singles champion while Santa Barbara High’s sister duo of Caitlyn and Nicole Buist came away with the doubles title in the Channel League Individual tournament on Tuesday.

The girls tennis showdown included plenty of local talent and was hosted by Santa Barbara High.

Mayo faced off against her fellow Charger Ellie Triplett in a championship matchup full of back-and-forth action and well-constructed points.

In the Dos Pueblos dual, Mayo took down Triplett 6-3, 6-3.

The doubles championship was also a faceoff between teammates, as the Buist sisters lined up across from the Dons’ duo of Mary Moses and Ella Weathers.

The Buists’ play close to the net made the difference in a 6-1, 6-1 victory for the doubles crown.

Mayo, Triplett and the two Santa Barbara High duos in the championship match will represent the Channel League in the CIF-SS Individuals on Nov. 20.
