As part of CycleMAYnia, community members can celebrate the near completion of the Modoc Multi‑Use Path at a ribbon-cutting event, 9 a.m. May 8 at the intersection of Obern Trail and Encore Drive.
An inaugural ride on the new path to Via Senda will take place following remarks from federal and local officials. Immediately afterward, the SBCAG Mayor’s Ride, hosted by the city of Santa Barbara, will begin at 10 a.m. from the same location.
The Modoc Multi‑Use Path closes a gap in the regional network of separated multi‑use paths by connecting Santa Barbara’s Las Positas and Modoc Road Multi Use Path to the Obern Trail.
Once completed, the project will enhance access to schools, beaches, neighborhoods and UCSB, filling a link in the Coastal Access Route, officials said.
Subcontractors are currently finishing the stone façade on retaining walls near Via Senda and completing fencing, with overall project completion expected in June.
With construction coming to an end, those interested are invited to take a six-question customer service survey about the project. To take the survey, click here.
