Parts of Santa Barbara County have gotten over an inch of rain, and there’s still more to come, with storms expected to continue through Friday.

As of Wednesday morning, the San Marcos pass got 2.57 inches of rain, Santa Barbara got 1.19 inches, Goleta got 1.18 inches, and the rest of the county got less than an inch of rain, according to the Santa Barbara County Flood Control District.

County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said there hasn’t been any reported damage or increase in emergency incidents due to the wet weather.

County Environmental Health Services is reminding residents to avoid stormwater runoff at local beaches. The storm water is untreated and flows through drain systems to creeks and the ocean.

Contact with stormwater while swimming or surfing can cause rashes, fever, chills, ear infections, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Ariel Cohen, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said residents can expect a light drizzle for the rest of Wednesday and light rain on Thursday. No major impacts or flooding are expected.

The Santa Ynez Mountains range, southward to the South Coast, is expected to get the most rain, Cohen said.

No significant winds are expected but there could be some gusts on the South Coast Thursday evening going into Friday, Cohen said.
