A motorcyclist was killed Friday night in a crash on Highway 101 in Montecito, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the incident on the southbound freeway near San Ysidro Road at 9:49 p.m.
The rider was reported down in the roadway, and firefighters performed CPR in an attempt to revive him, the CHP said.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was declared dead at the scene.
The right-hand lane and the southbound offramp were shut down after the crash, which was under investigation by the CHP.
Additional details were not available Friday night.
