The motorcyclist involved in a collision with a truck on Highway 101 earlier this month passed away in the hospital after the incident, according to authorities.

The motorcyclist was Charles Dylan Martin, 27, of Santa Barbara, according to Raquel Zick of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s-Coroner’s Office.

The collision occurred around 7:35 a.m. on Dec. 5 on northbound Highway 101 near Padaro Lane, north of Carpinteria, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Martin, who was riding a Suzuki motorcycle, and a white Ford F250 work truck collided. Martin landed in the truck bed and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, the CHP said.

He died of his injuries.

The northbound highway lanes were blocked for approximately an hour and a half after the collision due to the emergency response and crash investigation, the CHP reported.
