A motorcyclist was fatally injured Friday afternoon in a collision with a vehicle in Santa Maria, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.

The motorcycle was headed north on the 1900 block of South College Drive at about 5 p.m. when a vehicle exited from a parking lot into the roadway, Sgt. Todd Logan said.

“The motorcyclist collided with the vehicle, was ejected and sustained major injuries at the scene,” Logan said.

He was transported by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The female driver of the car also sustained injuries, though they were considered non-life-threatening, Logan said.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

“Investigators are still working to determine whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the collision,” Logan said.
