One motorcyclist was killed and another was critically injured in a traffic collision south of Orcutt Saturday afternoon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Emergency crews first responded to the area where the northbound Highway 135 on-ramp meets the Highway 1 northbound around 3:28 p.m. for a report of a collision involving two motorcycles, according to Fire Capt. Mike Gray.

One person was declared deceased at the scene. The other was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance.

Both highways were open as of 4:15 p.m.

“Motorists are advised to use an alternate route if possible due to heavy traffic and emergency responders still on scene,” Gray said.
