A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a crash on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at about 3:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes between Castillo and Garden streets, according to Battalion Chief Mike De Ponce of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find the rider down in the freeway lanes.
The motorcyclist suffered moderate to major leg injuries, De Ponce said, and was transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
His name and details on his condition were not available.
The two right-hand lanes of the freeway were blocked for a time after the crash, which was under investigation by the CHP.
