Myrna Loy Labrado Reynolds was born in Santa Barbara on Feb. 19, 1947 and passed on Jan. 10, 2022. While she left Santa Barbara in the late 1970s to further her career, she still had a very strong connection to her hometown, with close friends and family.
She would drive around town with such nostalgia that years later she even knocked on the door of one of her childhood homes and asked to visit her memories.
Myrna traveled the world while working as quality assurance director for companies Ikea and Mitsubishi, making lasting friendships along the way. Myrna retired in 2015 but continued to use her skills by working for her son Ernie Cervantez, a general contractor in Bakersfield, California, intaking and scheduling job requests.
To say Myrna was passionate about music would be an understatement, enjoying summer jazz festivals and concerts with friends and family. She loved taking long road trips, blasting jazz, R&B, hip hop, Mexican music, and even a little rap along the way.
