Dos Pueblos cross country coach Nash Jimenez and his Santa Barbara-based masters women’s running team, “Team Nash,” won medals at the USA Track & Field Cross Country Championships at Mission Bay Park in San Diego over the weekend.
Jimenez took gold in the men’s 70-80 age category, running the 8-kilometer race at Mission Bay Park in 36 minutes, 04 seconds. He was 91st overall in the Masters Men’s Division.
His five-member Team Nash claimed the bronze medal in the team competition behind champion Janes Elite Racing of L.A. and runner-up San Diego Track Club. The teams did a 6k race.
Amy Alzina led the Team Nash runners with a fifth-place finish in 24:46.6. She was followed by Jen Brown (10th in 25:39.1), Ashlee Mayfield (14th, 25:48.3), Kim Hazard (17th, 27:17.5) and Desa Mandarino (22nd, 28:06.6).
Lorilynn Bloomer of the Bowman Track Club was the overall individual winner in 24:13.2.
