Natalie Bianchi’s steady play helped the Laguna Blanca girls volleyball team pull out a five-set win over visiting St. Joseph in a non-league match on Tuesday at Merovick Gym. The scores were 25-13, 12-25, 25-19, 12-25, 15-13.

Bianchi had 10 kills with no hitting errors, picked up 10 digs and posted two blocks.

“Natalie Bianchi played phenomenal across the board,” said coach Jason Donnelly. “She had 10 kills with 0 errors, saw a number of serves and passed really well all night.”

Sophie Otte added six kills, two blocks and an ace, Cyanne Blabey picked up 10 digs and served four aces and setter Ginger Finney dished out 28 assists and served a pair of aces.

The Owls improved to 4-3 on the season.

“I was really proud of the way the girls responded tonight, particularly in game 5,” said Donnelly. “We are still searching for some consistency from start to finish but they played really well when it mattered most.

“As a team, this was our best passing performance of the year.”

Laguna Blanca’s next match will be its Tri-Valley League opener on Thursday against Foothill Tech at home.
