The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) will present the 12th annual Asian American Neighborhood Festival, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 7, an outdoor event celebrating the Asian American heritage that once thrived in and around the Santa Barbara Presidio.
This year’s event will be hosted at Casa de la Guerra as part of Downtown Santa Barbara’s 1st Thursday. Performances and artistic displays will celebrate the vibrant traditions of the local Asian American community. Traditional cultural performances will feature dance, drumming, music, and other performing arts.
SBTHP thanks D.J. Javier for providing artwork for this year’s festival. The event is sponsored by the George H. Griffiths and Olive J. Griffiths Charitable Foundation.
Coming up on Oct. 30, SBTHP invites the community to Revisiting Jimmy’s Oriental Gardens, an afternoon of Asian American history in and around El Presidio, 4-5:30 p.m.
