Newbury Park, which plays a couple of divisions higher, traveled to Carpinteria on Tuesday afternoon and topped the Warriors 15-9 in a non-league girls water polo match.
“We knew it would be a tough game against a much larger school [2,400 students to 636],” said Warrior coach Sergio Castaneda. “Regardless, the Warriors came out strong with senior Sadie Mead scoring a goal in the first minute off a foul outside the five meter. She continued strong, scoring three more goals throughout the rest of the game. Junior Cassidy Hajducko had a great performance with three goals and great movement that allowed her to find crucial openings.”
Carpinteria (2-2) will play at Santa Ynez on Thursday.
