Nick Husovsky hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning and closer Josh Jannicelli made it stand up as UC Santa Barbara defeated Cal State Northridge, 5-4, in a Big West baseball game Saturday in Northridge.

The win was sixth in a row for the Gauchos (33-15 overall), who are tied for first place with Cal Poly at 18-8.

Husovsky also delivered a game-tying run in the sixth, hitting single to bring him Rowan Kelly. That knotted the score at 3-3.

Northridge reclaimed the lead on a solo homer in the seventh, but Gaucho relievers AJ Krodel and Van Froling combined to thwart any further damage.

In the eighth, Kelly led off with a single and Husovsky blasted a homer over the left-field fence. It was his sixth of the year but first since March and first in conference play.

Jannicelli closed out the game, with some help from his defense. The Gaucho infield turned double plays in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the victory.
