Nick Salmon belted two home runs to power the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 10-2 romp over the San Luis Obispo Blues in a showdown between California Collegiate League division leaders on Saturday at Sinsheimer Park.

Salmon blasted a three-run homer to get the Foresters rolling in the first inning and added a solo shot in the eighth for a 5-1 advantage.

Chris Newstrom had a big night, going 4 for 5 with a homer and three RBI. His homer was a three-run blast in the eighth inning that padded the lead to 10-1.

The Foresters return home to Eddie Mathews Field on Sunday to play the Orange County Riptide at 2 p.m.

Addison Klepsch and Wylan Nelson added RBI for Santa Barbara.

Grady Westphal picked up the pitching victory in relief of starter Nick Wesloski. Kaleb Rogers closed out the game. The three pitchers combined to allow five hits while striking out 10. Rogers led the way with six strikeouts.

The Foresters, the leaders of the CCL South Division, improve to 21-5-1 while the North-leading Blues are 25-9 in league play.
