UCSB senior attacker Cole Brosnan scored four goals to lead the fifth-ranked Gauchos to a 15-8 win over No. 13 UC Irvine Friday at the MPSF Invitational at the Legends Aquatic Center in Berkeley.
After the teams battled to a 4-4 tie in the first quarter, the Gauchos outscored the Anteaters 5-1 in the second for a 9-5 halftime lead. UCSB added a 4-1 advantage in the final quarter to pull away.
Sam Nangle, John Rankin, Leo Yuno and Nathan Puentes scored two goals each for the Gauchos.
UCSB, 12-2, faces No. 3 ranked Stanford at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday.
