The Santa Ynez Valley Foundation is accepting nominations for the 30th annual Champions of the Valley, a program that honors outstanding volunteers from the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos.
Champions of the Valley spotlights individuals who give generously of their time, talents and heart to uplift others and enhance the quality of life.
Nominations for the Champion and Youth Champion awards are open through July 17. Nomination forms and details are available on the foundation’s website.
Award recipients, chosen by a committee of past honorees and Foundation Board members, will be announced in September and recognized at the Champions of the Valley awards event Oct. 12 at Rancho Carmina in Los Olivos.
“For three decades, we’ve had the privilege of honoring those whose dedication and heart truly define this region,” said Chris Urquidez, president of the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation. “Champions of the Valley is more than an event, it’s a community tradition that recognizes selfless service.”
Each champion receives a $1,000 grant for the nonprofit of their choice. Youth champions, students in grades 9-12, receive a $1,000 college scholarship to support their educational goals.
