Ballots have been mailed to all of the county’s registered voters ahead of the June 2 primary election.
The California governor is on the ballot as well as a Congressional seat, State Assembly seat and important county offices.
Voters will weigh in on two Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors seats (Second District and Fifth District) and a contested Superior Court judge seat.
Two county offices have deputies challenging their bosses for the top job: the Auditor-Controller and Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters.
Another county office has longtime Treasurer-Tax Collector-Public Administrator Harry Hagen retiring and longtime deputy Kim Tesoro running unopposed for the position.

Santa Barbara County’s Elections Office rejected 14 times as many late ballots in the November 2025 election compared to the November 2024 election.
The U.S. Postal Service does not postmark same-day mail anymore, and voters should mail their ballots early (multiple days before the election) or drop them off to ensure they get received and counted in time.
The County Elections Office received 179 late vote-by-mail ballots in 2024 and received 2,647 late ballots in 2025. All the late ballots were rejected and uncounted.
