Santa Maria Joint Union High School District (SMJUHSD) hosted its January Professional Learning Day at Pioneer Valley High School, bringing educators together for a full day of professional growth and collaboration.
Focusing on the theme Keep Climbing, the event emphasized continuous improvement, shared purpose, and collective support for student success, SMJUHSD said.
“This day allowed all certificated professionals in our district to attend a conference in our community focused on serving our students,” the district said.
The conference featured a keynote session on Artificial Intelligence, along with a range of breakout workshops focused on instructional excellence, student support, innovation, and educator wellness.
Sessions were designed to provide practical strategies, foster collaboration, and support both classroom practice and educator well-being.
The January Professional Learning Day reflects SMJUHSD’s ongoing commitment to empowering educators and strengthening learning experiences for all students, according to Krista Herrera, assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
Nearly 500 teachers from Righetti, Santa Maria, Pioneer Valley and Delta high schools, and the Mark Richardson Center participated.
