Residents may see smoke in the hills this week as Los Padres National Forest prescribed burning is planned through Wednesday.
The burning is happening on Camino Cielo Ridge near Painted Cave Road and Highway 154, according to the U.S. Forest Service and Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District.
The burn sites are staffed if there is heat or smoke present, officials said. This burn, which will affect about 10.5 acres, is meant to reduce vegetation to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Agencies have conducted several prescribed burns in this area of the Santa Ynez Mountains this year. This week’s burn is focused on Haney East, officials said.
