A colorful event celebrating Mexican Independence Day will turn the Goleta Community Center and Old Town Goleta into a festive block party, noon-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5679 Hollister Ave.
Last year’s party on Pine Avenue drew hundreds of people throughout the day, the city said. This year, attendees will enjoy a day filled with live entertainment, authentic cuisine, and vibrant Mexican traditions. Admission is free.
Following are some of what’s in store:
• Consul general of Mexico leading the traditional “El Grito”
• Vendor booths from Old Town businesses
• Live music
• Ballet Folklorico
• Mariachi performance
• Talent show
• Live, Work, Play giveaways from the City Booth
Those attending are urged to walk or bike to the event.
