One person was killed and another was critically injured in a motorcycle crash off Highway 166 Saturday afternoon.

Cal Fire SLO responded to the crash involving a single motorcycle at about 2:30 p.m., according to a post on X from the agency and emergency services app Pulse Point.

The crash occurred between Spanish Ranch and Chimineas Ranch, according to Cal Fire fire captain Eric Carreiro.

Both people involved in the crash were riding on the same motorcycle, Carreiro said.

“Firefighters on scene of a single motorcycle off the roadway, one patient being treated for major injuries and one fatality,” Cal Fire said on the social media thread.

Cal Fire SLO and Santa Barbara County Fire responded to the crash.

The injured patient was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria by Santa Barbara County Fire.

California Highway Patrol will conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash, according to Carreiro.
