Girls Inc. of Carpinteria is making the holiday season brighter for local girls and families with the return of Operation Holiday Cheer, a holiday giving program that started last year amid the pandemic to provide gifts to local girls. Girls Inc. has again collaborated with Cox Communications to on the program.
“Our team is beyond committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our girls, and we’re proud to engage the entire community with this initiative — through volunteering, making donations, or signing up as our local partners — to ensure all families receive gifts,” said Jamie Collins, executive director of Girls Inc. Carpinteria.
“We are grateful to Cox Communications for partnering with us once again to deliver hope and cheer to local girls and their families this holiday season,” Collins said.
Operation Holiday Cheer focuses on supporting families as they continue to recover from the economic hardships brought on by the pandemic. The initiative will serve 100 individual families, and the organization is expecting to distribute some 500 gifts, in addition to providing a tamale lunch and visit with Santa Claus.

Girls Inc. of Carpinteria and Cox Communications will present the gifts to girls and their families at a gift-giving event on Saturday, Dec. 11.
The community is invited to support Operation Holiday Cheer in any of the following ways:
Giving Tree: Pick a few items off the tree in Girls Inc.’s office at 5315 Foothill Road in Carpinteria, purchase the item(s) and bring them in by Dec. 2.
Fill the Box: Sign up to bring a holiday box to your business with gift tags that contain a Christmas wish. Employees can take a tag, buy the item and return to fill the box.
Amazon Wishlist: Buy a gift from the organization’s Amazon Wish List, which will ship directly to Girls Inc. of Carpinteria.
