Santa Barbara County is blessed with a diversity of vital nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health, well-being, growth, civic leadership and compassion of our community.

Charitable giving and philanthropy are part of our identity, which is why Noozhawk is proud to support the nonprofit community through sponsoring local community organizations and events.

To showcase our support of the event, Fiesta Soup Social, Noozhawk spoke with Andrea Slaby, COO at Organic Soup Kitchen to learn more about their event.

Organic Soup Kitchen

Question: What is the name and date of your event?

Answer: Fiesta Soup Social on Thursday July 31, 2025.

Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?

A: The Fiesta Soup Social is a community celebration and fundraiser dedicated to raising critical funds for Organic Soup Kitchen’s Cancer Recovery Program, which provides organic, nutrient-dense SoupMeals to low-income residents battling cancer and chronic illness. The theme of the evening is “Healing Through Food and Community.”

Q: Have you held this event before?

A: Yes, this is our fourth one.

Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?

A: We’re excited to invite you to our Private Annual Fiesta Soup Social — a vibrant evening of community, connection, and culinary celebration. Join us for a festive gathering featuring a delicious selection of handcrafted soups, flavorful cuisine, and refreshing beverages including wines from ONX Winery and handcrafted margaritas.

Enjoy live music by À La Carte (featuring Jan Ingram and Henry Garrett), a raffle packed with fantastic local gift cards and curated gift baskets — all in support of a meaningful cause.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit Organic Soup Kitchen’s Cancer Recovery and Medically Tailored Meal Programs, which deliver nutrient-dense meals and holistic wellness services to individuals battling cancer and chronic illness.

Since 2009, Organic Soup Kitchen has remained committed to nourishing the most vulnerable in our community. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting our life-saving mission.

Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.

A: Guests can attend by purchasing tickets online for $35 per person. Visit our website to buy tickets. We are always seeking volunteers to help out in the kitchen and deliver to our clients.

Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?

A: Yes. All proceeds support the production and delivery of Medically Tailored SoupMeals. Every dollar you contribute directly fuels our mission.

Specifically, all proceeds from this initiative are dedicated to the production and seamless delivery of our Medically Tailored SoupMeals.

Your generosity has a tangible impact: for every dollar donated, we are able to provide nutrient-dense, health-supportive meals to our vulnerable neighbors in our community who are grappling with both food insecurity and illness.

Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?

A: Key sponsors include: Noozhawk, Lazy Acres Market, Onx Winery, Andersen’s Danish Bakery, Toad & Co, Juice Ranch, Westerly Florist, and many more. They are partners in our mission to promote food as medicine and improve community health.

Q: Do you work with an Event Planner? If not, who are the key people who make it all happen?

A: We do not work with an event planner, but our dedicated team of staff and volunteers truly bring this event to life.

From securing raffle donations and sourcing ingredients, to preparing SoupMeals and engaging local businesses that support our mission, every detail is handled with care and passion.

We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our board members, volunteers, and staff—this impactful work would not be possible without their collective efforts.

Q: Does your organization have any other upcoming events this year?

A: Yes, we’ll host a Soup Social donor appreciation night in Fall, and we regularly offer volunteer orientations, Soup Socials, and nutrition education pop-ups throughout the year.

Q: What are you planning as a post-event follow up?

A: We’ll send attendees a recap newsletter with photos, post on social media, and share how their support made a difference.
