October marks 12 years since Organic Soup Kitchen opened its doors and began nourishing Santa Barbara County’s most vulnerable community members. Providing clean, nutrient-dense SoupMeals, and nutritional security primarily to cancer patients, chronically-ill and low-income individuals, the organization has served some 12,000 residents last year and more than 1 million bowls of soup since 2009.

“We are stronger than ever and committed to serving everyone in need,” said Andrea Slaby, COO at Organic Soup Kitchen. “Our 12-year anniversary is an opportunity to thank our community partners and supporters who continue to help us ensure that everyone in our community has access to the nutrition they deserve.”

Organic Soup Kitchen’s greatest impact has been on the thousands of community members battling cancer. Clinically formulated, SoupMeals are designed to address the complex needs of people undergoing cancer treatment or in recovery.

“Unfortunately, cancer and chronic illness are not going away, which is why we continue to support innovation in the area of oncology nutrition,” said Anthony Carroccio, Organic Soup Kitchen’s executive director.
