The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is alerting community members that the Public Art Mural Paint Day at Taylor Park has been rescheduled due to rain. The new paint event is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.

On the updated paint day, community members of all ages are encouraged to help shape the public art project by joining the Recreation and Parks Department at Taylor Park, north end of North Miller Street at about 403 E. Taylor St.

“This free, family-friendly event offers an opportunity to come together, express creativity, and contribute to a lasting public art installation,” the city said.

Participants will assist in painting the winning mural design and may observe the design’s progress throughout the day. No painting experience is necessary.

“This public art project aligns with the City’s Smart City, Safe City vision, enhancing public spaces, fostering creativity, and strengthening community connection through accessible art opportunities,” the city said.
