A passenger died and a pair of drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night between Lompoc and Buellton, the second deadly crash in the area in seven days.
Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and other agencies were dispatched to the incident on East Highway 246 at Domingos Road, Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
An adult male driver in one vehicle was transported by ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injury, Safechuck said.
A passenger in that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, Safechuck added.
Another male driver, the lone occupant in the second vehicle, was taken by ground ambulance to Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.
The name of person who died will be released after notification of the family members.
CHP officers from the Buellton area were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
On Aug. 29, a man died when his vehicle left the road and slammed into a tree on Santa Rosa Road. The driver’s name, age and hometown have not been released yet.
