Now more than ever before, our physical, emotional and mental wellness is front and center. Because of this, Noozhawk is proud to launch our inaugural Holistic Health and Wellness Guide!

To give our readers the tools to help improve their mental and physical health in Santa Barbara County, Noozhawk has conducted a series of interviews with local wellness practitioners and businesses.

In this interview, Noozhawk talked with Dr. Lizzie Clapham, Naturopathic Doctor at Pathways to Natural Health, Inc. to learn more about this practice.

A: We offer holistic naturopathic medical care. Our services include bioidentical hormone replacement, IV nutrient and injection therapy, botanical medicine, aging support, clinical nutrition and lifestyle counseling, neurotransmitter support, and homeopathy.

Q: How does your business or practice connect with health and wellness?

A: We connect with health and wellness by serving the community with natural treatments and educate our patients about health and wellness and how that ultimately prevents future disease.

Q: What makes your business or practice unique?

A: Our practice is unique because we focus on preventative wellness and treating the root cause of the patient’s concern. By spending more time with our patients and using advanced testing methods we are better able to understand the person as a whole which ultimately leads to treating the whole body and not just the symptoms.

Q: How do you keep connected with the community and your patrons?

A: We send out monthly educational emails. We offer talks to the community when available.

Q: What kind of training, education, or certifications do you hold?

A:  Our doctors have all attended an accredited four-year naturopathic medical program. Additionally, each of our doctors have extensive IV nutrition therapy and hormone replacement therapy training.

Q: How does your business or practice help your patrons?

A: We help our patients by educating them and giving them tools to optimize their overall health. We provide individualized treatment plans and provide therapies that enhance health and help our patients reach their health goals.

Q: Are your services covered by insurance?

A: Our services may be covered depending on your insurance provider. It is best to call your provider initially and ask them what type of reimbursement they will offer. For patients with PPO insurance, screening blood work can be billed to the patient’s insurance.

Q: If you do not accept insurance, do you offer any payment plans or any financing options?

A: We can provide our patients with a Superbill which they can submit to their insurance for reimbursement. For patients with no insurance or a high deductible, we offer bloodwork at a reduced rate (like a co-op).

Q: How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your business or practice?

A: We offer telemedicine visits for patients who are unable to come into the office during the pandemic.

Q: Is there anything you would like to tell our readers that was not mentioned above?

A: Our ultimate goal here at Pathways to Natural Health is to educate our patients on living a healthier life to prevent acute and treat chronic diseases. This often means supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself if given the proper diet, supplemental nutrients, active lifestyle, and non-toxic environment.
