Paul Solano, 59, of Carpinteria passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, after a courageous nearly decade-long battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.

Through every moment of that fight — and throughout his entire life — Paul showed unmatched strength, a deep love for his family, and a quiet, steady courage that inspired everyone around him.

Paul was a proud graduate of Carpinteria High School, where he fully embraced the spirit of the Warrior. “Warrior Spirit Never Dies” was not just a motto to him, it was how he lived.

Whether facing hard times, standing by others, or giving everything he had for his family, Paul carried himself with grit, loyalty and honor.

One of Paul’s greatest passions was hunting, especially with his closest friends and family. It was not just a hobby, it was a tradition and a way of life.

Those early mornings in the woods, the peaceful silence of nature, and the memories made around campfires meant everything to him. He found comfort in those moments and joy in the laughter and stories shared with the people he loved most.

Paul’s life was marked by the way he showed up for others. He was the kind of man who always put everyone else first. He gave his time, his energy and his heart without needing anything in return.

Whether someone needed advice, support, or simply to feel seen and cared for, Paul was there. His strength was quiet but unwavering, and his love ran deep.

He fought every single day, not for himself, but for the people he loved. He poured his soul into being a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather, a loyal son and brother, and a steady friend.

Paul is survived by his wife Veronica Solano; children Jazmyn Solano, Saryna Solano, and Michael York; and grandson, Nicholas Castillo.

He also leaves behind his mother Leandra Calles and stepfather Gilbert Calles; brothers Steven Solano (Polly Bustillos), Nicholas Solano (Gloria), and Gary Solano; and sister Lenore Villa. He is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Melvin Solano; grandmother Dorothy Guillen; and brother Melvin Jr. Solano.

The Solano family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ryan Kendle of Ridley-Tree Cancer Center. Dr. Kendle did more than provide care, he fought for Paul’s life with the same strength and heart that Paul showed during his own battle. His compassion and dedication gave the family nearly a decade more of precious time, memories, and love. They will always be grateful.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 532 Linden Ave. Carpinteria. Burial to follow at Carpinteria Cemetery, 1501 Cravens Lane Carpinteria.
