A pedestrian was struck by a train and killed in Summerland on Thursday, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies, county firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. to the incident near Lookout Park, Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer, told Noozhawk.
The man, who was declared dead at the scene, was struck by an Amtrak passenger train, Zick said.
His name was not released pending notification of relatives.
Cause and manner of death were under investigation by the sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
