A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed late Friday night on Highway 101 north of Los Alamos, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 11:25 p.m. to the incident on northbound Highway 101 just south of Cat Canyon Road, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound freeway lanes were shut down, and traffic was being diverted to Highway 135, Safechuck said.

Additional details were not immediately available.

The collision was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
