A pedestrian died Saturday evening after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the parking lot of Home Depot in Lompoc, according to the Lompoc Police Department.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 6 p.m. to the store at 1701 E. Ocean Ave., where they found the 42-year-old male victim, who was critically injured, Cpl. Robert Dugan said.

“Lifesaving measures were performed; however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Dugan said.

The man’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” Dugan said.
