A pedestrian was in stable condition at Cottage Hospital on Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Santa Barbara in the early morning hours, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Emergency crews first responded to the 600 block of Chapala Street at around 12:45 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian, Lt. Antonio Montojo said.
The driver and the associated vehicle were found nearby, Montojo said.
A Noozhawk photographer on the scene said the vehicle was located roughly a quarter block away from the collision.
Information about the extent of the pedestrian’s injuries was not available.
The 600 and 700 blocks of Chapala Street were closed while police investigated.
The collision was under investigation.
