A pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a passenger train in Carpinteria on Tuesday.

The unidentified adult female reportedly was stuck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train on the tracks at the end of Calle Ocho and Calle Arena, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene at 9:18 a.m. and declared that the woman was deceased, according to Zick.

No other information was available as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District did not respond to Noozhawk’s request to comment on this story.
