A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday night on Cathedral Oaks Road in Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 8:30 p.m. to Cathedral Oaks between Glen Annie Road and Los Carneros Road, said Mike Eliason, a fire department spokesman.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck by a small sports car that was westbound on Cathedral Oaks, Eliason said.

The man, whose name was not released, was declared dead at the scene, he said.

The driver, who also was not identified, remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, Eliason added.

Cathedral Oaks Road was closed in both directions while the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department investigated the incident.

Lt. Erik Raney told Noozhawk that the sheriff’s department’s major accident investigation team was on the scene.

He added that drugs or alcohol are not suspected in the collision.
