A woman walking her dog was seriously injured Thursday night when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 246 in Buellton, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

At about 8:20 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the collision on Highway 246 at Sycamore Drive, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.

The victim was treated at the scene, then airlifted by Calstar medical hospital to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

The dog was killed in the collision, Bertucelli said.

Highway 246 was shut down in the area of the crash.

The crash remained under investigation by the Santa Barbara County’s Sheriff’s Office.
