Peter Logan was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on Dec. 13, 1931 and lived there until the untimely death of his father in 1948. At that time, he came to America with his mother and younger sister, settling in Santa Barbara to be near family.
Peter graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1950, furthering his studies at Santa Barbara City College and Pasadena Bible College.
He met Joanne (Standish) at church, and after a two-year courtship they were married. Four children soon filled their lives: daughters Patricia (Knight) (deceased 2010) and Katherine (Cohen), and sons Jim and Steve.
Peter joined Ratheon Co. (RTX), in 1957, working with facilities until his retirement in 1992. As a man of many skills, he fondly became known as Mr. Fix-It for family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers.
He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and traveling with family and friends. Many memorable trips included two fishing trips to Alaska, a trip to Switzerland, and seven to Australia to visit their daughter and husband living there.
Following open heart surgery in 2004 Pete joined Mended Hearts, Inc. becoming a volunteer at Cottage Hospital, visiting heart patients and walking the halls with his beloved little sheltie Lena with the Dog Therapy Organization.
Peter’s and Joanne’s home on Edgewood Drive for 45 years was always open for friends, extended family, and even strangers for a visit or an extended stay.
In 2013 they knew it was time for a new adventure, and relocated to Rancho Santa Barbara Mobile Home Park.
Peter’s strong faith remained central in his life, supporting him through a stroke and further surgeries. When asked, How ya doing? he always smiled, answering “Great!”
Pete passed away peacefully at home with his wife Joanne by his side on Nov. 30, 2024. He is survived by his sister Ellie Logan, his three children, six grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Living Faith Center, 1 p.m. Friday, June 20.
A special thanks to Central Coast Hospice for the loving support and care given to Pete and all the family.
