For the second straight year, the Pier to Peak Half Marathon has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, race director Jay Campbell said.

The race is annually held on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It’s a grueling 13.1 miles that starts at the Dolphin Fountain in front of Stearns Wharf and finishes at La Cumbre Peak Park — an elevation gain of 3,996 feet.

While there is no official event this year, some runners have said on the race’s Facebook page that they still plan to run the distance at 7 a.m.
