Police are still searching for two suspects involved in the stabbing of a man at Santa Barbara City College on Wednesday.
The stabbing occurred near the Earth and Biological Sciences Building at about 4:45 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara Police Department. The victim was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds to his upper body.
Cmdr. Christopher Payne said detectives are actively working on the case. He added that the victim was in stable condition when officers left the hospital.
SBCC spokesman Jordan Killebrew confirmed that the victim is a student.
The Santa Barbara Police Department said two men approached the victim with a knife in an altercation.
The two men took off on foot from East Campus toward the West Campus, and police spent several hours searching the area for the suspects.
Police said on Wednesday that the stabbing does not seem to be related to any school-related functions.
SBCC decided to cancel classes and close the campus Wednesday evening “with an abundance of caution,” officials said.
Detectives are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Police Department at 805.897.2371.
