A shooting that left one man injured Saturday night in Santa Maria remained under investigation on Sunday.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers with the Santa Maria Police Department responded to the 700 block of South Western Avenue for a report of gunshots heard in the area. 

They located a 40-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound that appeared to be non-life-threatening, Sgt. Erik Hesch said. 

Santa Maria Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel also responded to the scene to provide medical aid to the injured man. 

The victim was later transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

His name and details on his condition were not available.

The investigation remained active and ongoing, Hesch added.
