Authorities have released the name of the woman who was found dead last weekend on East Beach in Santa Barbara.

The deceased was identified as Vesna Prepolec, 46, a Santa Barbara County resident, Cmdr. Charles Katsapis of the Santa Barbara Police Department told Noozhawk.

Officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of East Cabrillo Boulevard following reports of an unresponsive person on the beach.

Prepolec was found on the sand and showed no signs of life, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Her cause of death remained under investigation.
