The Santa Barbara Police Department urges residents to take precautions following reports of two mountain lion sightings within the last week.
In both cases, the mountain lion’s image was captured on a residential security camera at night. These sightings have occurred in the area of Mission Creek, and the 800 block of Bath Street. Santa Barbara Animal Control and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have been notified.
Please remain vigilant in the area of 800 Bath Street and Mission Creek.
It is recommended to keep small pets indoors, especially during evening and nighttime hours. If you see a mountain lion, do not approach it. If you believe there is a significant threat to public safety, please call 9-1-1 to report the sighting to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
