Santa Barbara City College went into lockdown for less than an hour Tuesday while police searched for a suspect involved in a two-person “disturbance,” per alerts from the college and the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Campus spokesperson Jordan Killebrew told Noozhawk one person allegedly pulled a knife out and slashed another person’s bike tire after an altercation at the top of the campus stadium.

One of the subjects was with the officers, while campus security and police searched for the other person, per a police alert sent out at 11:50 a.m.

“SBPD on campus with SBCC Campus Safety who are reviewing video footage and working to clear the area. The situation appears to be an isolated incident between two individuals,” a campus spokesperson said in an alert.

Radio traffic indicated police were looking for a Hispanic male adult in his 40s, but that could not be immediately confirmed.

The person may have run away from the campus toward Cabrillo Boulevard, per emergency radio traffic.

The lockdown went into place at 11 a.m. and was lifted by 11:45 a.m.

Additional information was not immediately available.
