The Santa Barbara Police Department was working to recover a body found on the beach below the Mesa and El Camino de la Luz on Tuesday morning.

Emergency personnel responded to that area in the city, east of Mesa Lane Steps Beach, just before 10 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a possibly deceased person.

Police later confirmed that there was a body found in that area.

A police spokesperson told Noozhawk that personnel are “actively engaged in recovery efforts on the beach.”

No additional information was available.
