San Marcos baseball struggled early and fell on the road to Ventura High by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday.
The Cougars poured on four runs in each of the first two innings and, despite San Marcos threatening in the first two frames, held onto the lead for the Channel League win.
The lone San Marcos run came courtesy of an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Levi Monson.
David Burkolder allowed three earned runs while striking out four in four innings of work while Brett Hollowell tossed two scoreless frames of relief.
Offensively, Kieran Babai tallied two hits while Landon Johnson reached base three times and stole two bases.
San Marcos will look to bounce back as it hosts Ventura on Friday at 3:30 p.m., pending rain.
Pacifica 7, Dos Pueblos 1
The Chargers dropped their Channel League game with the Tritons on Tuesday at Scott O’Leary Field.
Charlie Potter’s solo home run accounted for the entire Dos Pueblos offense in the loss.
Seth Tedeschi struck out two batters for Dos Pueblos while Carter Low tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The Chargers (3-5, 1-2 Channel League) will be back at it on the road against Pacifica on Friday, pending rain.
